Dbank for Windows uses Visual Basic (VB) as the macro language, so that users can develop customized utility programs to meet different demands. It defines a time series object that converts Microsoft Excel into an intelligent manager of time series data. The time series object is very easy to use and directly accessible from VBA/Excel.
Excel spreadsheets play the main role in presenting the various statistical tables. Pre-designed spreadsheet tables, which serve as standardized templates for holding regular data, are prepared, but the tables are dynamically linked to centralized data store using the time-series engine so that the data values keep changing as the database is updated.
This architecture has been proven to substantially increase the productivity of data reporting and other statistical work. The templates draw the data directly from the database. Whenever an existing time-series database is updated, the spreadsheet table can be refreshed, recalculated, and an updated table can be produced in seconds.
